Handling of straw is to be done, because one of the success of artificial insemination is a good quality straw, so we have to maintain sperm motility. In carrying out activities in the breeding unit metro city we compiled Standard Operasinal wantid procedures so that all our achievements can be realized either.

Standard Operating Procedures Handling Straw and N2 Liquid :
  • Straw purchases in Lampung Province BIBD with Container Depots and conducted a test of microscopic testing of straw. Container depot closure must be closed tightly. 
  • Straw Tests conducted with a randomized trial to determine the microscopic vertilitas straw, if the examination straw contained 10% of these trials show straw quality is not good then it should be returned to the BIBD-Lampung Province in Poncowati. 
  • Periodic examination once every 4 days to the volume of liquid N2 in Container Depot. Straw test done again as the number of straw has been reduced by 50%. 
  • The procedure for examination of straw are as follows: 
    • Towing using a straw with water for 1 minutes. 
    • Cut the right end of the straw with scissors. 
    • Pour the cement in a Petri dish and then placed under a microscope with a magnification of 40 times. 
    • Observe the movement (motility) and sperm abnormality.
