 Detection Estrus

    Before We Make Artificial Insemination in Cattle then the most important thing is to do the detection of estrus. Estrus detection is crucial in determining the success of artificial insemination. Detection of false will cause losses, especially in terms of time delays due to late pregnant females mated these animals. Artificial Insemination must be done at the time of estrus because the animal was at this point that the right to allow the meeting between spermatozoa with the ovum so that fertilization takes place and the high pregnancy rate. In this case the breeder so equipped with the knowledge to accurately detect estrus and knowledge of the estrous cycle in cows so as to estimate the times of occurrence of estrus and the time is right for the Artificial Insemination.

Estrus can be known by looking at the signs as follows:

1. Cows in a state of quiet if ridden by another cow.

2. female animals genitals swollen, tender and red, or in terms of who are well known especially among farmers in Java, Indonesia with terms 3A, the female animals genitals looked Abang (red), Abuh (swelling) and Anget (temperature rise).

3. Clear out the mucus in the female animals genitals and is often attached to the tail and feet.

4. Lowing (sigh), restless, noisy and frequent urination.

5. Slightly decreased appetite.

Farmers are encouraged to make notes for each livestock, especially regarding the time estrous. By knowing the times of previous estrous, will largely determine whether the cow at a given moment will show signs of estrous or not.

For cows that irregular estrous intervals, indicate the presence of low fertility, then the cows thus need to be treated before the artificial insemination to enhance fertility.

Artificial Insemination Procedures 

      Palpation through the female animal genitalia method is to use the left hand is inserted in the rectum. Before it is inserted into the rectum, at the tip of the finger should be given a bit of soap that is injure the mucosa and fingers in a docked state.

If the period of the next month (+ 21 days) after insemination the cow showed no signs of estrous again, it is possible in a state of pregnant cows. But if the cows showed signs of estrous, the cow should be in Artificial Insemination and soon again to do further tests.
