Treatment of Infertile Cows

Written By penyakit hewan on Sunday, May 20, 2012 | 9:35 AM

Currently we are dealing with the failure of fertilization in cattle due to sub clinical metritis and endometritis. Background underlying this activity is the number of cows not pregnant after artificial insemination. So this led to loss of livestock and straw disposal. The disadvantage of the farmer is the addition of feed costs and maintenance time to get the calf. The program aims to avoid the treatment of metritis cows with the disease is cut in slaughter houses. Usually farmers are frustrated due to the old pet cow is not pregnant, so they decided to sell the cow cutting. With this treatment activities are expected to cows suffering from metritis can be pregnant again.

The program is divided into 4 stages:

The first stage is that we do a survey to farmers throughout the Metro area. The survey is to find data on the number of cows that were 3 or 4 times the artificial insemination is not pregnant, besides that through this survey we also collected data about last insemination, the quality of lust, how many times have given birth, calving interval, body shape values, consumption of feed per day , type of feed, and cow age.

Second stage is the treatment of metritis. Treatment we have done is use of antibiotics (Trimethoprim + sulfamethoxypyridazine) and 1% iodine tincture intrauterine. After 21 days, we tried to bully lust by using intrauterine PGF2 alpha.

The third stage is the implementation of artificial insemination 48-72 hours after PGF2 alpha administration. Expected at the time the cow is going lust after insemination and fertilization can occur as well.

The fourth stage is the examination Gestation in cattle. We do this examination after 3 months of insemination by palpation perektal. Our weakness is not having ultrasound or pregnancy test kit detection, so we use manual and conventional manner.

We ask prayers for activities to bring maximum results.
