In formulating rations or feed preparation, need to use Table benchmark Nutritional Requirements. For example, the nutritional needs in preparation of rations for dairy cows are as follows:
Young female dairy cow weighing 350 kg, one and a half months before birth (birth to age 36 months), need feed with nutrients as follows:
1. Basic necessities of life and reproduction: Dry Material = 6.4 Kg,
2. ME = 13 Mcal,
3. Protein = 570 grams,
4. the mineral = 37 kg.
Lactation I:
Dry Material = 1.0 Kg, ME = 2.02 Mcal, protein = 93.6 grams, Mineral = 5 kg.
So the amount of dry material = 7.4 kg, ME = 15.02 kg, protein = 663.6 grams, Mineral = 42 grams.
Of the nutritional requirements, feed needs can be formulated by a method. For example, feed ingredients available are:
- Bulrush: Dry Material = 16%, ME = 0.33 Mcal, Protein = 1.8 grams% LB, Mineral = 2.5 g% LB
- Grass Soybean: Dry Material = 93.5%, ME = 3.44 Mcal, 44.9 grams protein =% LB, Mineral = 6.3 g% LB
- Coconut cake: Dry Material = 86%, ME = 2.86 Mcal, protein = 18.6 g% LB, Mineral = 5.5 g% LB
- Bulrush will be used to meet the needs of as many as 80% of dry matter = 80/100X7, 4 kg = 5.92 kg LB. Then the protein content of grass is already fulfilled: as = 1.8 / 100 x 5.92 kg = 106.56 grams of protein.
Disadvantages:
1. Dry matter = 7.4 to 5.92 kg = 1.48 kg
2. Protein = (663.6 to 106.56) grams = 557.04 kg or 557.04 / 1480 X 100% = 37.64%.
3. Soybean meal to meet the shortfall amount: 19.04 / 26.3 x 1.48 kg = 1.07 kg LB.
4. Coconut cake meet the shortfall amount: 7.26 / 26.3 x 1.48 kg = 0.41 kg LB.
Thus, the amount of fresh feed material required to meet the needs of livestock with the above conditions are:
1. Bulrush = 5.92 X 100/16 kg = 37 kg
2. Soybean meal = 1.07 X 100/93, 5 kg = 1.14 kg
3. Coconut cake = 0.41 X 100/86 kg = 0.48 kg.
Thus the way How to Make Dairy Cattle Feed Formulation
